Slices of Time- Animated short film

The concept behind my film is “the mundane”. I wanted to explore the idea of embracing and cherishing of the most boring and tedious events and routines that I do in my everyday life. In Georges Perec’s novel Species of Spaces and Other Pieces he outlines a day on pages 28 to 30 by time increments. Perec writes about the most ordinary actions such as putting on a coat, taking off a coat, brushing teeth and going to bed. I found this interesting as he turned something so ordinary such as a daily routine, into an analytical and almost poetic piece. The core concept of my film is how we’re trapped in an endless cycle of our routines and how a day can be seen in a few short clips highlighting the ordinary events that happen.
